29 Aug “For All” – Introduction
Friend, I am so glad you are here. You’ve decided to devote a part of your day focusing on God’s goodness, his grace, his overwhelming love for YOU. By reading these words, you are taking a step toward him; toward his plan for your life. Seeking him is the first step, and as you choose to join others in reading our For All Devotional you will be part of something much bigger than yourself. You are on the winning side of a spiritual battle that will end in victory for God and his children. After all, as Romans 8:31 boldly asks, “… If God is for us, who can ever be against us?”
For the next 21 days, you will be on a journey to answer this question with Journey writers who are just like you. They struggle, fall, get up, and keep going. They experience mountain top moments and pits of despair, sometimes all in the same week. Sound familiar? The most awesome thing that we can learn is that when our faith is rooted in Jesus, there isn’t a circumstance we’ll face that God cannot see us through.
So let’s get started! If you don’t already have a slot and spot, a time on your calendar and a place you can settle in to be with God, this is your day! You can use a Bible app on your phone or an actual Bible, and if you need help with either one, please let us know by filling out a Connect Card here (we’ll send you one!)
You’ll notice that each day of our Journey Devotional is written in the SOAP format to help you dig into God’s Word and connect with him as you read and pray…
Scripture: Every day will focus on a scripture from the Bible. Feel free to read what comes before and after each verse(s). God’s Word is alive and active, like no other book you will ever read!
Observation: Each writer shares what is going on in the verses/passage so we can all better understand the context together.
Application: Each writer will share how God’s Word is reflected in their own life experiences–something that is for all of us!
Prayer: You can use the words on the page and keep the conversation going–make it personal for you.
As you travel through the next three weeks with us, we’d love to hear from you! How is growing in your slot and spot and your relationship with God impacting your everyday life? Feel free to share your story here. Your experiences will encourage others to keep going too.
And not all stories are easy to share. Remember, we are learning how God is for us, and the best way to learn this is in relationship with others who are learning too. Connect with our Pastoral Care Team or share a prayer request with our Prayer Team. And because we grow in community, you also have the opportunity to join a J-Group: a small group of Journeyers connecting for friendship and heading in the same direction with Jesus.
I’m so excited to take our 21-day adventure with you! God is good, he is for you, and nothing can keep you from his purpose and plan when you place your faith–your trust– in him through his Son, Jesus. Let’s lift our eyes up together and jump in with two feet for Day One tomorrow!

Katie and her family have been part of The Journey since 2014. One of Katie’s favorite things to share with others is how The Journey has helped her learn how to let God love her and give that love away to others. She NEEDS her slot and spot to be the wife, mother, friend, and leader God created her to be—and through lots of bumps and bruises along the way, she is so grateful to her Journey family for praying, loving, and growing alongside of her!

Posted at 05:05h, 31 AugustI have always had strong faith and believe that through our God all things are possible; however, I have always felt like I don’t know or understand scriptures as well as I should. I’m hoping the up coming weeks will help me get closer to God and bring clarity.
