What is
CODE RED?
Code Red is ordinary people on mission to change the world. At The Journey, we believe Jesus calls us to help those who are near us and need us. It’s why we tithe the first of everything that’s given here back to our community through Code Red. As we grow, we plan to keep giving and doing more to meet the needs of the overlooked and oppressed in our community.
We seek to partner with existing organizations that are committed experts in their field rather than create our own efforts from scratch. We believe this mission must benefit both the people who are served and the people who are serving – so we seek opportunities that will meet the needs of our local community while we grow spiritually.

Compassion Weekend
Compassion Weekend is our opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community, serving physical needs to open the door to spiritual connections. Through a wide variety of serve events—feeding the hungry, providing resources to those in need, supporting the recovery community, organizing food and clothing drives, and much more—we live out our faith in action. As a church, we come together for Compassion Weekend three times a year, but the heart of serving doesn’t stop there. Whether individually or with your J-Group, there are always opportunities to make a difference year-round. Join us as we bring hope and love to those around us!
Monthly Food
Distribution Events
In an effort to bring hope to families in the region and meet the wide needs many are facing with food insecurity, The Journey provides food to 500 families through a community drive-through food distribution event on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 9am-11am, first come first served. Food distribution happens in a drive-through fashion at The Journey’s Newark location at 721 East Chestnut Hill Road (while supplies last).

Mission Trips
In missions, we bring the love of Jesus to underserved communities around the world by showing compassion and meeting both tangible and spiritual needs. Through partnerships with established organizations that share our values and vision, we aim to create lasting impact by fostering sustainability, empowering local leaders, and uplifting individuals. We do this through short term missions teams who serve throughout the year alongside these strategic global partners. Together, we are committed to driving life change, bringing hope, and building stronger, thriving communities for generations to come.
