J-Groups exist to help people connect with God, connect with each other, and serve Journey City.

J-Groups are small groups that allow us to connect, grow, support, and encourage each other. We base our J-Group model on the early church as described in the Bible in the book of Acts:

Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah. -Acts 5:42

J-Groups meet weekly or bi-weekly in the Spring (12 weeks), Summer (7 weeks), and Fall (12 weeks) semesters.

We want people to gather together based on the things they already enjoy and that are important to them: Bible/book study, foodies, gamers, bookworms, runners, you name it! It can be open to all or focused on gender, age, or stage of life—you decide! Here are some ideas to get you started: What type of Group Should I Lead?

Fear not! J-Group leaders are paired with an experienced Team Leader who will pray for you, help answer questions, and provide information to you throughout the semester.

Team Leader: All J-Group leaders are paired with an experienced Team Leader who will pray for you, help answer questions, and provide information to you throughout the semester.

Message Discussion Guides: Posted weekly at yourjourney.tv/groups, these guides provide an overview of the weekend message, scripture references, and icebreaker questions.

New Leader Training: This training helps prepare you to be a J-Group leader.

Leader Workshops: Throughout the semester, there will be leadership trainings and workshops to help you continue to learn and grow as a J-Group Leader.

J-Team Night: Join other members of our church to grow, connect, worship, and celebrate being part of the J-Team.

As a J-Group leader, you will be investing in the lives of your J-Group members by providing a time and space for them to connect with each other during discussions and activities. You will help members connect with God and grow spiritually through experiencing communion together and will help members serve Journey City together during Compassion Weekend. As the semester continues, you also have the opportunity to encourage your members to take next steps in their faith, such as gathering consistently, serving on a J-Team, getting baptized, or becoming a J-Group leader themselves.
