In this Beyond season, we’re asking a bold question: What if God wants to do more, in us, through us, and for us, than we’ve ever dared to imagine?

For the past few weeks, we’ve been asking what it could look like to go BEYOND where we are spiritually, and act on our belief that God is able to do infinitely more than we can imagine. That starts with allowing God to shape our lives and the way we see and obey him.

However, many of us struggle with giving anyone that kind of authority in our lives. We may even be asking, “Why should I listen to Jesus? And what does he really want me to do anyway?”

Jesus is very clear why we should follow him. He has all authority in heaven and earth to forgive our sins and guide our lives.

If we believe that is true then our next step is to do as he says and “go and make disciples of all the nations.” This applies to all of us. God grows his church through ordinary people who believe that Jesus is worth following and who obediently embrace his mission, even when it is hard. Jesus didn’t just tell us to go, he promised that when we do he will be with us always.

As a church we put our faith in God to take us BEYOND where we’ve been for his glory. As we individually pray about what step God would have us take in this season, we can remember that everything good he has for us is on the other side of what he asks of us.

Through the generosity and obedience of our community of faith God will be glorified throughout Journey City, with an impact that will be felt through future generations and BEYOND.

Pray

Prayer is our time to talk to God. Let this prayer inspire your conversations with God this week.

Father God, we thank you that your vision reaches far beyond what our human minds can imagine. You gave your Son authority over all creation and called those who follow you to reach all nations.

We admit to our shortsightedness. Our understanding of what you can do is limited. Give us your vision. Thank you for not leaving us where we are. Thank you for not letting us settle for small successes when you see greater victories.

As you say in Matthew 28:19, help us go into our communities, workplaces, and Journey City to make disciples of Jesus.

For it is in his name we pray, Amen.
