Message Guide – BEYOND Week 6 | For the Sake of the Circle

Categories: Message Guide.Tags: , , .Published On: March 29th, 2026.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been talking about what it looks like for all of us to go BEYOND where we’ve been in our faith. In this final week, we took an active step together as a church by making personal commitments to honor God with what he has given us for the sake of the circle we call Journey City.

Key Takeaway

Today, we give to honor God – for the sake of the circle.

Within Journey City there are 1.8 million people. Through the pillars of formation, compassion, and expansion we won’t stop as a church until we’ve helped as many as we can to find Jesus and follow him fully.

This is an enormous task, but we are believing that through his power in and through us, God can do far more than we can ever imagine.

This defining moment in our church is a reflection of a scene in the Old Testament where God’s people were preparing to build the Temple – a permanent place of worship for generations to come.

King David led the way by preparing resources and giving everything he owned. Then, as a willing act of worship, all God’s people joyfully followed his example. They didn’t all give equal amounts, but they did all give with the same heart. We are called to do the same.

Giving to what matters to God is how we honor him. It is a response to who God is and what he has done for us through Jesus. When we truly believe that everything we have was first given to us by God, giving stops being uncomfortable and instead becomes a source of joy.

Pray

Prayer is our time to talk to God. Let this prayer inspire your conversations with God this week.

Dear Heavenly Father, you provide and you understand. Even when we don’t see the finished work, you remind us what you are capable of when we place our faith in you.

Father, when our faith falls short, remind us not only of what you can do, but what you desire to do in and through us. In the words of David, stir us to “now begin your work.”

Thank you for a vision that is BEYOND our narrow thinking. We celebrate what you are doing in Journey City, and we trust that as we remain faithful, you will provide. For it’s in your son’s name we pray, Amen.

Worship

Bring the worship set from this weekend into your Slot and Spot and praise him for the opportunity to be a part of what he’s doing through BEYOND for Journey City.

Learn

This week, read through the scripture shared in the message and dive deeper into God’s word.

Reflect

Reflect on these questions during your Slot and Spot/discussions with others.

The circle we call Journey City represents 1.8 million people (family, neighbors, and friends) who need hope and the love of Jesus. Our mission is to meet as many as possible through three pillars – formation, compassion, and expansion.

  • How does knowing you are a part of something bigger than yourself change the way you think about your time, resources, or influence?
  • What would it look like to fully commit to being an active part of what God is doing in your city?

Read 1 Chronicles 29. In this passage, King David leads by example, giving sacrificially and inviting others to do the same. The people respond not out of pressure, but with willing and joyful hearts, recognizing that everything they have comes from God.

  • King David said “I’m all in” before asking others to give – he led by example. Who in your life has modeled generosity or obedience in a way that has impacted you?
  • Verse 16 says, “Everything we have has come from you.” How does truly believing this change the way we live and give?

Going BEYOND is about more than a one-time decision. Instead, it’s about allowing God to transform how we live, trust, and respond to him daily.

  • What is God calling you to do to take your faith BEYOND where it’s been?
  • What does trust look like for you? Is there anything God is asking you to surrender or trust him with more fully?
  • This message isn’t just about inspiration, it’s about action. What step can you take to move from believing in the vision to actively participating in it?

Next Steps

BEYOND is about more than programs or buildings – it’s about helping more people experience God, grow together, and make a difference for Jesus. God is inviting you to be a part of it. Visit yourjourney.tv/give to see what that looks like for you.
