Ready to find your place, purpose, and part? Complete Plugged In on your own time! Read below to begin completing Steps 1-3 On Demand. After completion, you’ll choose the J-Team area that you’re interested in, and a leader will reach out to you to get you connected.

If you’ve ever wondered what becoming a part of our church means, this is your first step. You’ll learn more about our mission and vision as a church, how to grow spiritually by engaging in personal and public habits, and how to live out your faith with purpose, both in the church and beyond. The first step is to watch this video from our Lead Pastor, Pastor Mark, and fill out the Step 1 form. Then, you’ll want to complete Steps 2 & 3, either On Demand or in person at one of our locations. We’re excited to welcome you!

Watch the Step 2 video to gain insight into what it means to discover your purpose – the unique gifts God has placed within you to positively impact others. Next, complete the spiritual gift assessment. As you go through the questions, choose the answer that resonates most with you. Don’t overthink it—take just a few seconds to respond to each question, and trust your instincts!

Before moving forward, ensure you’ve completed Step 2 (either On Demand or in person). Once you’ve watched the Step 3 video and learned more about what it looks like to find your part on the J-Team at The Journey, you can explore the various areas where you can serve. You’ll be able to match your spiritual gifts with the opportunities available. After reviewing the areas to serve, fill out the Step 3 form, and a leader from your chosen team will contact you soon.   • Utilize your administrative gifts by providing support to our Administrative or Operations Team, as well as our various J-Team areas. From answering phones and doors at our Newark  location during the week to working on spreadsheets from the comfort of your own home, this could be your team!

  • Counting team comes alongside our Operations Team to count weekly Serving opportunities are available after the last gathering at the location you attend.

  • We are ordinary people who are dedicated to changing our world for Jesus. Those who serve in Code Red embody compassion and selflessness and have a genuine desire to positively impact the needs of communities locally and worldwide. From tackling the issues of homelessness and hunger to providing hope through recovery, our outreach initiatives revolve around six key focus areas. These areas encompass the overarching goal of meeting community needs to help give those in Journey City a brighter future. We have serving opportunities throughout the year.

  • From social media and writing to web development and graphic design, the Communications Team has opportunities for you to tell the stories of changed lives through words and (Opportunities available on the weekend, during the week, remotely, and in person.)
  • Photography: Help us capture the story of what God is doing here at The Journey through our Photography Team! There are opportunities during in-person gatherings available for all skill levels.

  • Have you felt the WOW factor when gathering on the weekend? Our Creative Experience Team serves as a think tank and implementation squad to make series come alive – from decor to festive holiday design to weekend (Some weekday serve opportunities are available).

Our Emergency Response Team (ERT) creates a safe and secure environment for Journeyers during our in-person gatherings. No experience required.

  • The Events & Hospitality Team bring our locations to life by crafting unforgettable experiences for our J-Teamers and guests through delicious food, creative décor, and fun If you have a passion for hosting and love curating exceptional events and experiences, this is the perfect team for you!
  • Spiritual gifts: Craftsmanship, Help, Hospitality, Leadership, Service

  • If you like to work with your hands, this team is for you! The Facilities/Set-Up and Tear-Down Team helps maintain the areas where we do church on a Sunday, whether by creating or repairing certain areas of our locations, large and small-scale projects, or setting up and tearing down our portable locations. This team makes our spaces “people” ready.

  • Our Impressions Team creates “WOW” hospitality for our We’re the first faces people see visiting The Journey on a Sunday! (Serving opportunities vary and can be tailored to availability.)
    • Café: The Cafe team connects with the people in our cafe area while providing coffee & tea before and during the gatherings.
    • Emergency Response Team*: Our Emergency Response Team (ERT) creates a safe and secure environment for Journeyers during our in-person gatherings—no experience required.
    • Greeters: If you love to smile and give high fives, this is the team for
    • Journey Central: We welcome first-time guests and people new to faith, answer questions, and help guide guests to their next step.
    • Parking Lot: Want to be the first face people see and welcome them to The Journey? Join our parking lot team! We help keep our parking lot safe and organized by guiding Journeyers to the empty parking spaces
    • Ushers: Help create an environment for people to experience God and become followers of Jesus by welcoming, greeting, and seating our guests each week in our auditorium.

  • With our Newark parking lot at capacity, driving and hosting on our Journey shuttle is a crucial way to serve and make space for our guests! This team picks up J-Teamers at off-site parking and drives them to The Journey and back. Opportunities are available on Sundays. A CDL license would be great, but optional! (This opportunity is available at our Newark location only.)

  • Our team helps kids know God, love God, and live like he says from birth (six weeks old) through 5th grade. We create an environment for our littlest Journeyers to engage in worship, Bible lessons, prayer, and… of course, FUN!
  • Check-In*: This team has the honor of being the first face to welcome our families to Journey Kids. We help parents feel at ease leaving their kids with us by assisting them with the drop-off and pick-up There is some computer use associated with this position.

  • Sometimes, our kids need extra love and attention in our weekend Journey Kids environments. This team pairs kids with special needs (4-11yrs) up with a “buddy” during our kids’ gatherings for extra support, allowing them to know God, love God, and live like he says in a way they can understand.

  • Journey Students exists to help students find Jesus and follow him Whether you love sports, music, tech, or just being there for people, there’s a place for you. Students don’t need perfection—they need someone who will listen, connect, and point them to Jesus. Whether it’s helping at Converge (our monthly gathering for Journey Students), serving behind the scenes, or leading a J-Group, your presence matters, and you could be the reason a student finds hope.   • The Pastoral Care Team is dedicated to supporting individuals through life’s significant events, offering guidance and compassion during times of joy and sorrow. Whether navigating weddings, funerals, or personal challenges, the team provides prayer, emotional support, and practical resources. They connect people to care groups such as GriefShare, DivorceCare, Finance and Budgeting Groups, and Marriage Groups, fostering a sense of community and healing through shared experiences and biblical advice.

Tell the story of what God is doing here at The Journey through our Photography Team! Opportunities during in-person gatherings are available for all skill levels. No prior experience required.

  • Our goal is to help Journeyers (like you!) find their place, purpose, and part at The Journey by guiding them towards their next step. From coordinating hospitality for our guests to connecting them with a J-Team leader, our Plugged In team helps people become part of our Journey family. Weekend & weekday serving opportunities at physical locations and remotely.
  • Spiritual gifts: Administration, Discernment, Evangelism, Faith, Help, Hospitality, Leadership, Pastor/Shepherd, Service, Teaching, Wisdom

  • Our Prayer Team prays over individuals, our church, and our J-Team throughout the week. We want to help Journeyers access the presence of God from wherever they are spiritually. From praying with Journeyers on the weekend to interceding for them throughout the week, our prayer team provides a spiritual foundation for what God is doing here.

  • Our Production team helps bring the message of Jesus to life through lighting, video, and media. No prior experience needed; we will train you. Sunday serving opportunities available.

  • If you are passionate about storytelling, video editing, capturing the right shot, or thinking creatively, join our Creatives Videography Team! We’ll provide you with the equipment you need.

  • Our Worship Team creates an environment where people can experience God & worship him authentically. If you have a gift and desire to lead others in worship as a vocalist, instrumentalist, or through mixing sound, please consider auditioning for our Worship Team. (Please note: Audition required.)
