A Guide For Personal Prayer
Prayer. What is it exactly? Have you ever struggled to find the “right” words to pray? Wondered, “Am I even doing this correctly?” Or maybe you hesitate because you suspect God would never even listen to you anyway. If you’ve ever struggled with any of these doubts, you’re not alone in that! We know what it’s like to not know “how to pray”! So, we’d love to come alongside you in this by providing this simple guide that will help answer these questions as well as propel you into a deeper relationship with God.
Here is what lead Pastor Mark Johnston has to say:
To every Journeyer reading this —
When our church began in 2007, we desired to reach people with the life-giving message of Jesus – especially those who had never experienced church, had given up on it, or maybe even given up on God. We prayed a lot in those early days, and we’re still praying a lot now.
Lots of people pray. But in my experience, there’s a difference between people who treat prayer like a last resort and those who treat it like a first response. In every situation, whether good or bad, spiritual growth means praying before we act. So many of us – myself included – are tempted to act first, then pray! But when we reverse that order, we become people who seek God before we pursue our own plans.
I know that for some of us, especially if we’re newer to (or need to grow in) our faith, prayer can feel overwhelming or intimidating. But prayer is simply a conversation with God. I’m convinced that most people don’t enjoy prayer because they have never been taught how to pray. That’s where this simple prayer guide can help.
Using several prayer models out of the Bible, this booklet is aimed at helping you connect with God in a personal and fulfilling way. When you discover the joy of daily conversation with him, you’ll experience the presence of God in ways that will change your life. Once you learn how to pray, prayer can become a habit, and habits are the steps we take that ultimately lead to our destiny.
My encouragement is to learn to pray. Then, you can make prayer a first response.
