Message Guide – Who’s Asking?, Can God Use Someone Like Me? | Week 2

Categories: Message Guide.Tags: , .Published On: July 12th, 2026.

Key Takeaways

God’s Presence, God’s Purification, God’s Purpose

Many of us wonder if God can really use someone like us. In Isaiah 6, we see that God doesn’t call perfect people – he invites willing people. As we spend time in God’s presence and allow him to transform our lives, he prepares us to live out the purpose he has for us

  • Isaiah 6:1-8 – Isaiah encountered the holiness of God and immediately became aware of his own brokenness. Instead of condemning him, God forgave and purified him before inviting him to join in his mission. Isaiah responded, “Here I am. Send me.” God still prepares ordinary people to live with extraordinary purpose.
  • Spend time in God’s presence – Transformation begins when we intentionally slow down and make space to be with God through prayer, scripture, and worship.
  • God’s purification is preparation – God lovingly transforms us, preparing us for the purpose he has planned rather than punishing us for our past.
  • God calls willing people – God isn’t looking for perfect people. He invites those who are willing to trust him and respond in faith.
  • Say yes to God’s invitation – Like Isaiah, we are invited to answer God’s calls with a willing heart, trusting that he will use us wherever he sends us.

Pray

This week during your slot and spot, pray that God makes clear the calling that he has placed on your life. Ask God to show you where he is calling you to serve.

Dear God,

You are almighty and wonderful. You are the one who calls us by name. We humble ourselves before your presence because you are greater than words can describe.

We struggle at times to fulfill your calling because we see all of our flaws and sinfulness, and they make us feel unworthy of taking up your charge. But as we read in Isaiah 6:8, help us brush away those feelings of inadequacy and simply say, “Here I am. Send me.”

Thank you for choosing us in spite of our shortcomings. Give us the strength to fulfill your work and the endurance to persevere. Thank you for choosing us even when we were not fit to be chosen.

For it is in your son’s name we pray, amen.

Worship

Bring the worship set from this weekend into your Slot and Spot and praise him for his glory.

Learn

This week, read through the scripture shared in the message and dive deeper into God’s word.

Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.” – Isaiah 6:8-9

Reflect

Reflect on these questions during your slot and spot/discussions with others.

Take a moment to reflect on a question asked during this week’s message- Have you ever had a moment when you experienced God in a powerful way?

  • Was your heart and/or mind postured toward or away from God when it happened?
  • What would you say to someone who is praying to experience God in the same powerful way?

Read Isaiah 6:8. The Lord asked who he should send to tell others about him, and Isaiah volunteered.

  • Have you ever volunteered for something you didn’t quite feel prepared for? How did it go? Do you feel like you could have done better with practice?
  • Would you ask God to send you? When was the last time you shared your faith with someone else? What stops you from sharing your faith more often? Do you feel like you would get more comfortable with sharing your faith if you practiced more?

We often want to fulfill God’s purpose for us, but we resist his process. Think about a time this was true for you.

  • How long did you try to do things your way before handing it over to God? Why did you resist?
  • What was your purification process like?
  • Thinking back, was the outcome what you imagined it would be? Was God’s purpose the same as yours?
